1. Work to Live…unless you deeply love your work

We all, in general, work to make money, and if we have enough free time we spend some of that money on things we enjoy, family, friends, travel, hobbies, hobo things. For most, this work is not our passion but is merely a means to an end. We live in unique times, where an individual can make a living with relatively little work if they use the proper income channels. Hobo finance concentrates on strategies of getting the highest return from the smallest investment, the largest income from the smallest time commitments, so as to spend most of ones time living, rather than working.

2. Sustainable Unemployment

…is the state of financial independence gained from a self perpetuating income source that comes from fixed time and financial investment. It is the principal of wealth as differentiated from riches; riches implying a large but finite amount of money that may not sustain your lifestyle indefinitely, wealth implying enough money to live as you wish for as long as you wish resulting from a self replenishing income stream. This is freedom from obligatory work, freedom to pursue a more fulfilling lifestyle. A lifestyle that doesn’t rely on a steady paycheck or a loyal employer to sustain it is the true definition of security.

3. Quality of Life

Neither of the Hobo values above is an enviable state in it’s own right, but are prerequisite in ensuring a life of boundless possibility. Money is the stuff of time, and time the stuff of money. Having money creates the time to live the life we dream, whether it is learning world languages through immersion in foreign cultures, training various fighting systems in their country of origin, sipping a fine Italian red while overlooking the Mediterranean, or working with the poor in developing nations. The Hobo is hungry for experience, and this world is a limitless playground for those free of financial constraints. This website deals with the corollary, using time efficiently to create money, which in turn will grant us time for our passions, whatever they may be. For most people, life is what happens when you’re busy making money to live it. For the Hobo, money is what happens when you’re busy living the life you’ve always wanted.
